Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Shopping List App (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use our mobile app and website (together, the “Services”).

For the purposes of this policy: “Application” means the Shopping List App mobile app; “Device” means the phone/tablet where you installed the app; “Lists” means shopping lists or notes you create; and “Items” means the individual entries within your lists.

By installing, using, or accessing the Services, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services and uninstall the app.

1) Who we are

Shopping List App is an independent project operated by the app developer/publisher (the “Controller”). You can find our full legal details in Section 15 (Imprint / Legal Notice) and you can contact us via the email shown in the app/website.

2) What we collect

We collect only what we need to provide the Services and keep them reliable.

  • Content you provide (lists + items): Shopping lists, notes, checklist items, and categories you create within the app.
  • Account and subscription information: basic account info needed to sign in (e.g., account ID and, if used, email) and subscription status/entitlements. Payments are handled by Apple/Google; we do not receive your card details.
  • Technical and diagnostic data: device/app information (e.g., device model, OS version, app version, language), network information (e.g., IP address) and security signals, and crash/performance diagnostics to improve stability.
  • Analytics (usage statistics): we may collect usage statistics to understand how the Services are used and to improve the product (for example: app opens, screen views, feature usage, and aggregated performance metrics). This data is used for product improvement and service reliability.

3) What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not rent your data to third parties.
  • We do not use your lists/items to create advertising profiles.
  • We do not claim ownership of your Lists or Items.

4) How we use information

  • Provide list synchronization, editing, and sharing features.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Services (including debugging and performance).
  • Prevent abuse and protect the Services (security and fraud prevention).
  • Provide customer support if you contact us.
  • Verify subscription entitlements and enforce free/premium limits.

5) How your data is processed

To provide synchronization and sharing, your Lists and Items are stored locally on your Device and sent to our servers to keep all your devices up to date and allow sharing with family members.

We may use trusted service providers (“Processors”) to host infrastructure or process data on our behalf. These providers are required to protect your data and may process it only under our instructions.

6) Storage and retention

Some information may be stored locally on your Device (for example: settings, cached data, drafts). If server features are enabled, Lists and Items are stored on our servers so you can access your history and sync across devices.

We retain data only as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the Services.

7) Sharing and exporting

The Services may offer sharing/export features (copy, share sheet, file export). When you export or share, you control where the content goes. Third-party apps/services you share to are governed by their own privacy policies.

8) Ads

Shopping List App is primarily supported through subscriptions/free limits. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers. If advertising is added in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before doing so.

9) Subscriptions (Apple App Store / Google Play)

If you purchase a subscription, billing is handled by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). We do not receive your payment method details (e.g., credit card data). We may receive limited information such as subscription status/entitlements to unlock premium features. Billing/refunds/subscription management must be handled through Apple/Google according to their terms.

10) Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11) Children’s privacy

The Services are not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

12) Your rights and deletion requests (Data Deletion)

Depending on your location (for example under the GDPR/DSGVO in the EEA), you may have rights to access your data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion (“right to erasure”), object to or restrict processing, and data portability (where applicable).

Deleting your data upon request

any account-linked content (including Lists and Items stored on our servers, if applicable) from our active systems, unless we are legally required or permitted to keep certain information (for example, limited records needed for security, fraud prevention, or compliance).

If backups exist, your data may remain in backups for a limited period and will be deleted as backups are rotated/overwritten in accordance with our backup retention practices.

How to request deletion

To request deletion or exercise your rights, contact us via the email address listed in Section 15 (Imprint / Legal Notice) or the contact email shown in the app/website. We may need to verify your identity before completing the request.

13) International transfers

If we use servers or service providers outside your country, your data may be processed internationally. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards to help protect your data.

14) Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the app and/or on the website with a new “Last updated” date. Changes take effect when posted.
